Postal Boot Camp – Better Mail Preparation through Better Training!

PIA Mailers Council Schedules “Postal Boot Camp” for Direct Marketers, Printers, Mailers, In-House Mail Rooms, and High Volume Mail Customers October 4 and 5, 2018 in the Metro New York area.

The Postal Boot Camp is a full day course, offered in East Brunswick, New Jersey on October 4, 2018, and Manhattan, October 5, 2018, and will show printers and mailers, direct marketers, in-house mail rooms, and their customers, how to cost effectively produce and process direct mail to meet postal standards, drive down mailing costs, and drive up response rates and effectiveness. Visit https://printcommunications.org/events/ for complete details.

Let’s face it, postage is often the highest portion of the total cost of mailing. Understanding how mail piece design and postal processing affects these costs will assure you of paying the most favorable postage rates. Industry statistics show that mailpiece designs that are not compatible with automated postal processing can increase postage costs by an average of 75%. This intensive one-day course is an excellent way to educate employees on the mailing process and the postal regulations world. Whether the mailing is produced in-house or through an outside vendor, your staff must have an understanding of USPS rules and regulations and the link between mail-piece design and U.S. Postal Service regulations to effectively manage this work. If the process is not done correctly, the USPS will turn it back, a process that is costly and embarrassing. If this happens a few times, the client will look elsewhere for someone who will prepare the mail correctly.

Presentation topics will include:

  • Speaking Postal
  • Classes of Mail
  • Retail vs. Discounted Mail
  • Oop$, Goof$, and Flub$- the True Cost of Poor Mailpiece Design
  • Mailer’s Scorecard
  • Data Management
  • Automation vs. Non-Automation
  • Shape Based Processing
  • How Pre-sort Works
  • Sealing of Folded Self-Mailers
  • The Importance of the Barcode
  • And much more including ample time to solve attendee’s real life problems.

The Postal BootCamp features National Speaker & Business Leader George Heinrich, the “POSTAL PROFESSOR”. The Postal Professor has been in the mailing industry for over 48 years. This one-day program will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Hilton East Brunswick in East Brunswick, New Jersey. On Friday, October 5, 2018, again from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Postal Boot Camp will be held at Club 101, 101 Park Avenue (between 40th and 41st Streets) in Manhattan. Registration and continental breakfast will be available at 8 a.m. at both locations.
